Our Sites

Synexus in South Africa operates as a company with professional investigator research sites. Synexus SA has a dedicated Access to Patient Group and a Call Centre to support the recruitment of patients for clinical studies.

Synexus in South Africa also has three state of the art, wholly owned dedicated research sites and a jointly managed affiliated site; the latest addition, Nyeleti (which means Star in Tsonga) Research Facility, has been developed for Phase II and III studies that require an extended  day or overnight stay. This facility will support both the Watermeyer and Stanza sites; all the sites are equipped with transit laboratories and dispensing units to store investigational product:


  1. Watermeyer Clinical Research Centre in Meyerspark, Pretoria

    Overall infrastructure of the site:

    Reception area, 4 examination rooms, 1 procedure room, 4 research nurse stations, a transit laboratory, a temperature controlled dispensing unit with access controlled lockable cabinets and storage areas, including high-density filing cabinets. There is space available for monitoring.

    Equipped with ADSL lines, computers and access to the Internet.

    Equipment includes minus 20 and minus 40 freezers, domestic fridges, centrifuge, ECG, spirometer as well as a DEXA and an X-ray machine.

    Equipment maintenance records are current and up to date, with certification documentation.

    Emergency facilities:

    Immediate emergency treatment (emergency trolley) and O2 is available.

    Support:

    Experienced Site & dedicated QC, assist the PIs and ensure adherence to the Protocol, ICH GCP, as well as QC of the data before monitoring.  Synexus also has a QA Manager, who conducts internal QA audits at the sites

    Dedicated Project Managers manage the logistics of the trials and the Operations Manager assists the PIs with the clinical operations at the site.   Dr Aspinall will liaise with the sponsor as well as handling invoicing and payments of all concerned.

     

     

  2. Stanza Bopape Clinical Research Centre in Mamelodi East, adjacent to the local government primary care clinic,

    Overall infrastructure of the site:

    Reception area, 3 examination rooms, 1 procedure room, 2 research nurse stations, 4 counseling rooms. There is also a temperature controlled dispensing unit with access controlled lockable cabinets and storage areas, including high-density filing cabinets. There is space available for monitoring.

    Equipped with ADSL lines, computers and access to the Internet.

    Equipment includes -40° freezer, vaccine fridges, domestic fridges, centrifuge and ECG.

    Equipment maintenance records are current and up to date, with certification documentation.

    Emergency facilities:

    Immediate emergency treatment (emergency trolley) and O2 is available. The site is situated opposite the Stanza Bopape Primary Health Care Clinic, which is fully equipped, in case of serious medical emergency Support

    Support:

    An experienced Site & QC Manager, who assists the PI and ensure adherence to the Protocol, ICH GCP, as well as QC of the data before monitoring, supports the site.  Synexus also has a QA Manager, who conducts internal QA audits at the sites

    A dedicated Project Manager manages the logistics of the trial and the Operations Manager assist the PI with the clinical operations at the site.   Dr Aspinall will liaise with the sponsor as well as handling invoicing and payments of all concerned.

     

  3. Synexus SA also jointly operates a site at Roodepoort Medicross Clinical Research Centre.

  5. Nyeleti Research Facility in Meyerspark, Pretoria

    Overal infrastructure of the site:

    A five-bed In-patient ward including a nurses station, a food preparation area, a lockable storage area as well as a secure, temperature controlled dispensing unit designed to manage supplies according to ICH GCP and national guidelines.

    Equipped with ADSL lines, computers and access to the Internet.

    Equipment includes a laboratory -20° freezer, a laboratory fridge, with an ambient and refrigerated centrifuge;

    Emergency facilities:

    It also houses emergency and other resuscitative equipment, a transit laboratory and has ambulance support.

    Support:

    Dedicated Project Managers manage the logistics of the trials and the Operations Manager assists the PIs with the clinical operations at the site.   Dr Aspinall will liaise with the sponsor as well as handling invoicing and payments of all concerned.

 

This group of research centres gives access to a patient pool of approximately 3 million people.

When required Synexus SA will set up and /or identify sub-contracted sites for a relevant study and Synexus will conduct the site management services.
